A little about me...
My name is Philip Congrave and I am married with 2 daughters. We moved to Abberley in 1999 and I took early retirement in 2012. I had previously run a small software business which occupied most of my time, so in retirement I had the opportunity to explore hobbies and interests that had been in my mind for some time.
One of these was massage therapy and I enrolled on an introductory course with BCMB. I was immediately convinced this was the path for me and signed up for the level 4 Holistic Massage Therapy course with BCMB, which takes just under 1 year. To qualify, students have to pass a practical exam and a written Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology exam, plus log over 50 hours of massage. As it had been over 30 years since I had studied for an exam, this was quite a challenge, but actually great fun and very interesting. I then enrolled on the Remedial and Sports massage course, which was even tougher!
Apart from massage, I have taken up golf and I also enjoy walking - we try to get away two or three times a year for walking holidays in the UK. I am also a volunteer within Complementary Health at Kemp Hospice in Kidderminster.
I am fully insured with Balens and registered as a member of the Massage Training Institute.
I trained with BCMB (The Bristol College of Massage and Bodywork) who have two centres, one in Bristol and one at The Fold at Bransford, near Worcester. Their approach is to tailor all massage therapy and bodywork to the individual client and the difference this makes cannot be overstated.
If you are not sure about embarking on a lengthy course to learn how to massage other people, try their introductory course. It is not expensive and takes up a single weekend, but by the end of the course, you will know if this is something you wish to continue. (I was hooked)
